Queer Revolution!
As part of this year’s “Queer Revolution” the crew at Exposure Festival has selected 10 queer icons that have influenced and shaped our collective social and political history. These activists, scholars and artists have contributed to queer social justice movements through protest, collective action, writing, art, film, and music. They have shaped theory and have challenged social norms of gender, sexuality, race and class. This year’s ten icons will be featured at different Exposure events as well as here on the festival website. Our list is not exhaustive or definitive so join the conversation and offer your input. What do you think of these queers activists, scholars and artists? Who should we celebrate as queer icons? What are the benefits and/or dangers of celebrating or idealizing individuals?
