We love the concept behind the Winter Light festival. We are all for supporting our friends in making Edmonton the best city it can be. Winter is our reality. Why not make the most of it?

The festival deals with the reality of Edmonton’s winter, the climate, the atmosphere, the urban scale. It recognizes winter as a time of both darkness and light – with elements of joy and survival, of isolation and gathering together, of fire and warmth, story telling and celebration.

The festival kicks off this week with Mispon.

Mispon means ‘it is snowing!’ in Cree. Winter Light is delighted to describe the snowy delights of our winter city in one of the remarkable languages of this region’s first people.Enjoy special performances, speakers, delicious snacks and a sneak peak at Edmonton’s 2010 winter festivities.
