Oh, Edmonton

22ndJan. × ’10

This weekend will serve as reminder of why we love this city. You still have a chance to catch PIG as part of the Canoe Theatre Festival.

“a rock music spectacle that dares us to consider what we consume as entertainment” – Michael Clark, Curator

In a surreal prairie landscape, wayward girls are being lured into the tent-prayer meetings of a glamorous female evangelist. She and her bible-salesman boyfriend quickly groom their new devotees into peep-show players, presenting acts that delight, horrify, and ensure salvation. There is no who-done-it here, no crime to solve, no story to unravel. At this peep show nothing matters but everything has a price. It’s a backward world where public execution is a performance, and accidental necrophiliacs can find redemption in true love.

Starting Friday you can catch At The Same Time , a contemporary photography exhibition, at the 19575_273047043744_767598744_4331807_8118849_nArtery.

At the Same Time is an exhibition that explores the concept of borders, both real and imagined. Consisting of the work of five different artists, the work explores the boundaries that exist between two people and those that separate those two people from the rest of the world.

Edmonton’s own Ted Kerr and Zach Ayotte are a part of the exhibit and we couldn’t be more excited to see it for ourselves.

Opening Reception on Friday, January 22, 2010, 7 – 10 p.m. at the ARTery 9535 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton. Dirty Dance Party with DJ Double Tights to follow!

Visit the Facebook event page for more information.
