Desire in a Landscape of Loss
Organized by Kim Smith and Dales Laing An Inter-disciplinary Art & Dance Party w/ Evalyn Parry & many others
Time: 8:30pm-1:00am
Venue: HIV Edmonton Gallery
9702 111 Ave. (Old Nina Haggerty Building)
This city can be a stagnant creature, taking more than it gives, forcing many of us to flee, creating a landscape of loss for those left behind. And yet, in its wake, we can choose to transform loss into desire, grief into creativity. Loss need not be a limitation. This city is only as stagnant as we let it be. For those who queerly crave to create, perform, engage with all the senses, we invite situations of sound, touch, fe…eling. We want to stimulate parts of us often left wanting; skin, cochleas, irises, diaphragms, toes, fingers, aortas, capillaries. And all those queer spaces in between. We invite experienced/inexperienced, formal/informal, curious/skeptical; all are crucial to opening up desire. Bring your curiousity, emotions, and ideas to HIV Edmonton on Friday October 21 at 8:30, and stay for performances by Evalyn Parry .
